But I'm having some reservations on the layout... with just the one block to look at, I'm second guessing the scrappiness of my layout. Wondering if I should make the blocks more tonal with ones that are lighter, darker, cooler, warmer print combinations? But I'm also wondering if it won't be just fine once I have a bunch of them done and laid out together. Thoughts? Anyone want to weigh in in favor of stay-the-course vs. make-them-more-uniform-within-each-block?

I love the scrappy look of your first block! The glue basting does look a lot faster... Have you tried piecing without any basting? Here's a link to a great tutorial with a video by Leanne of She Can Quilt. http://www.shecanquilt.ca/2011/12/sewing-curves-is-not-hard-seriously.html

Looking good but I have no idea about the whole thing :) I guess as long as you use the same fabrics or at least repeat some it'll be fine. 12/23/2016 15:50:20
I like the scrappy look of the first block. In my experience, more scrappiness and more variety work better than less, so go for it! Happy Holidays - 12/23/2016 16:59:25
Have you taken the image of the block and tiled it in Microsoft Paint or something to see how the scrappy look would play out with more blocks? If not - I highly recommend giving it a try (ooo, and rotate the block so that it tricks your brain that each block is different). I'm such a visual person that things like that can help me decide. :) Comments are closed.
