A quick stash share of what I've bough lately for a specific project (as opposed to what I've bought lately just because I absolutely *had to have it* and will now hoard for months before I so much as cut the selvege off ; ) Above: Trenna Travis' Bekko Swirl in Coral and Dena Fishbein's Taza Medallion in Red for the reversible apron (Jamie Christina's Cupcake Apron) that I'm making as part of my 30/30 Sewing Challenge goals. Below: Gina Martin's Sewing Box Notions & Snaps in Multi for one side of my reversible sewing machine cover. Still haven't decided on what the other side will be., but this will be my last project for the 3030SC, so I have a week or two to decide. Below: Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton in Bright Pink, Carnation, Primrose, Water, Candy Green, and Robin's Egg to coordinate with the Wee Wander quilts I'm making. I shopped for these at Pink Chalk Fabrics - they occasionally write handy "What Goes with What" posts and this one was very helpful for choosing a few colors to match Sarah Jane's adorable prints.

Oh, YES! Those are the perfect fabrics for that cupcake apron. Yummy! And your machine will be stylin' also with those sewing novelty prints. Of course that Wee Wander is to die for. Love the addition of the solids. They are such a wonderful compliment to those prints! Nice finds, Sarah! Thanks, Lorna! I usually shy away from red, but the color is perfect for the kitchen - warm and lusty and sure to hide the tomato sauce that will almost certainly stain it at some point ; ) And I'm so glad I got the solids - I have been slow to warm to Konas, but for the busy imaginative prints, I definitely needed some basics to break it up for the eye.

I love Pink Chalk Fabrics "What goes with What" it is so helpful and it looks like it worked. 3/9/2014 09:05:09
I just ordered me some wee wander! Can't wait. Those solids look fabulous. They certainly did match them up perfectly. Your apron is going to be too cute for words:) I picked an easy pattern for them, Daisy, but then I spent the entire weekend working on one trying to randomize the strips just right. I think I'll be doing a mirror image for the second and save myself the brain work. Hopefully I'll have pics up in about two weeks (because I already booked longarm time and I have to have them done by then : ) Even if you're not into the whimsical prints part of the line, the feathers are a must stash! 3/13/2014 04:28:35
Buying fabrics for a specific project? What a novel idea! :) And ooh are you going to add petticoat under the apron? Thank you for linking up your Sunday Stash with me this week! I know, right? I've been a little out of control with the stashing lately, though, so I think it may be project-based shopping from here on out in 2014, Alisa ; ) I'm not doing the petticoat - I'm way too jeans-and-a-tee for that, but I'm going to make a second as a Christmas gift for for my SIL who is much girlier, and I plan to add netting to hers!
