Hurray! My husband's home! The kids and I have missed him, but what I've secretly missed most (um, or maybe not so secretly - he might be on to me ; ) is the extra time to sew that his arrival reinstates. He is the most amazing house cleaner, dinner prepper, and children's dispute arbitrator, allowing me the next seven weeks until school begins to dive headlong into longarming. Hopefully I'll have some "hot off the frame" newbie quilting to show in the coming weeks. My mom sent a stack of charity quilts, as well as I Spy tops for my youngest and two cousins, so I have a few to start practicing on. Here's my stash share for the week... I have one of those kids who needs the length but otherwise is not remotely close to filling out her current size, so rather than take in pants, I think it'll be a dresses and leggings fall/winter wardrobe for her. Picked up this Jo-Ann's corduroy and two knits on clearance last week to make some tee dresses... assuming I get over my fear of knits! My MIL is fantastic at sewing with them, though, so maybe I'll sign up for a quick lesson with her first. I found this stripe from Wrenly by Valorie Wells to use for the backing of my Supernova Friendship Block Swap quilt. I really wanted this, but the stripes match the palette perfectly and were on sale for half the price, and it's a goal of mine to exercise a little more self control and thrift with fabric purchases : ) And last of all, my June Stash Stack Club fabrics. You probably already know I love Dear Stella, so seeing Wild Hearts in Gray in the stack made my heart flutter! Now I want them in every color. What print are you crushing on right now?

The stash stack club mix is super yummy this month. I think the backing you chose for your supernova quilt is going to be perfect, and I know what you mean about really wanting a particular fabric. I am in the midst of crushing on anything orange. It's different and been fun to work with such a bright color!

I absolutely love your new fabrics! I haven't made clothes since my kids were little but there's no doubt she'll love anything made with those choices. I can't wait to see how your Supernova turns out. I haven't received my blocks from my partner yet so I'm watching everyone else's with bated breath.

Thanks, Cathy. I'm hesitant about the dresses because clothing is not my best area (my MIL makes the girls really lovely dresses, so they at least get handmade for Easter and whatnot : ) I hope you get your blocks soon - I'm enjoying the collaborative process of it and I hope you are, too!

They do look sort of blue, huh? I was rushing to take pics and didn't check the tone I was getting with my manual setting before packing it all in. They're greys, but I just could't get them quite right. Not sure what they'll be used for - I signed up for the club to round out colors I had little of (grey was one for sure!) so now they'll be waiting for just the right project, Eva : )

I LOVE the stash of the month!

I was glad to see that button print because one of their dolls has pjs in the same, Jamie : ) I got enough for a whole dress, and then the other two for skirts with a contrasting top. Grey is usually not my thing, but definitely growing on me and this stack is wonderful!

Yay to your hubby coming home! I know you were secretly counting down the days so you could start practicing on your long arm. I started doing a couple of projects with my embroidery machine :) love the Wild Hearts in grey! They are gorgeous! I've been trying to be thrifty with my fabrics too. I recently found a $2.99 per meter bin of quilting cottons at a local store who has a small selection of fabric. I picked up 4 different fabrics totalling 10.5 meters! I just could not leave fabric there at that price. Happy quilting on your long arm :) I can't wait to see what you do :)

Oooh... lots of lovely treasures in this post. I wish that cute knits were as readily available where I am as they are in the States. :) And those greys? Delish! Happy sewing!

Thanks, Jenn! I wish I had better access to knits, too. These aren't very good quality - they're just the store brand, but I plan to pair them with a cheap tee and use them as the skirt part and they'll be going to Kindergarten to get messy, so not worth an investment. I wish I could find the kind of knits you see in Ottebre here, but those are not readily available : \

Thank you, Debbie, and sort of. If you have directional prints, then you have to be careful. I precut two sets at a time and laid them on the design wall exactly how I wanted them, then pulled from there to piece. It was easy to keep prints straight, but sort of slow to piece. The QAL is to do one set per month, but I doubled up and I will again just to have the fussiness over in one fell swoop!

My husband spends the summer holidays with us too, because he's a teacher. I always have these thoughts oh I'll get so much done with him around, but it never works! He has his own agenda of what he wants to get done on his break, so I've learned to not expect him to do all the things I want him too. As the kids have got older it has got better.

Mine caught hand, foot and mouth from the kids and spent the first week back unable to touch clean laundry, dishes or food, so that wasn't a very helpful start : P Hoping I get more done come August! I can see how the kids being older would make a difference, Sarah - maybe mine will grow out of the need to be separated every half hour for so much as looking at each other the wrong way and arguing about it lol. Then I'd be much more productive!
