Stash Bee Blocks

Stash Bee March block | Berry Barn Designs
I don't know why, but this first block just about melted my mind. It literally took me hours. (Like, I had on two whole episodes of Neil de Grasse Tyson's new Cosmos series in the background and then it still wasn't done.) In the end, I was quite pleased with my 12" rendition of the red/orange/yellow improv block Michelle at Factotum of Arts had asked for in her tutorial to use in her "Through the Shattered Looking Glass" quilt. It was only after I took a picture and uploaded it that I noticed the little spot to the right that technically isn't sashed at the points! Agh!

But I hope that sending a second block will make up for the little error because I think by the point that I noticed it, I might've cried if I'd had to take it apart. So I'm sending along an 8" blue block to sweeten the pot when I mail it ; )

Love the frogs and top one looks lovely and bright and cheery - worth the effort!

Hi Sarah, both the blocks are lovely, frogs and all, but remember when we find a spot on a block that is different, that is where we look outside the box and add a detail that will change that block into what we see it as, maybe a flower, or an abstract piece, or whatever we feel like.....

Thank you, Lori - you're so right. I actually love the block, I just was worried the queen bee might not like it. Always a bit nerve wracking when we're creating for someone else's vision, but she's pleased : )

I love the top block and probably wouldn't have noticed the boo if you hadn't pointed it out! That looks pretty intricate so I can imagine it took alot of time. Well done!

It shouldn't have taken so long - I just am slow at improv apparently, Jamie! Something to improve upon : )

Your little mishap with the first block is very, very difficult to spot. I certainly wouldn't consider bothering to rectify it. The overall impression I get from both is that they are just lovely.

Ok, I'm glad you agree, Afton - I'm just new to online bees so I want to make sure I follow the rules and keep everybody happy : ) And also, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and annoyed with myself that I didn't see it as I was joining them. All part of my growth as a quilter, though, right?

Thank you, Cheryl! Once I got the first one done, it was easy and fun : P It would be neat to do a whole quilt with them!
