stash share | Berry Barn Designs
Um, see all that fabric goodness? Guess what?? I stole it! Well, not really, but close to it. Sadly the store Project Anthologies is going out of business, hosting a huge blowout sale to liquidate their inventory, and I went right ahead and took advantage. I ordered eight yards of fabric - including Anna Marie Horner, Pat Bravo, some Cloud 9 organic - plus an adorable Sarah Jane embroidery pattern and some No-Sew Fabric Glue (haven't yet tried glue basting, but I will!) for $26! That's like $3.25 a yard with a pattern and glue tossed in for free - see? A steal! I hate seeing small fabric businesses close, I truly do, but I suppose someone was going to buy up their fabric at a bargain, so I'm glad my stash could benefit even if it was in that schadenfruede sort of way. (I'll be linking up with Molli Sparkles for Sunday Stash - pop over if you'd like more fabric eye candy!)
Last month I organized my studio and said I'd show it off all tidied up, but I forgot. Fortunately, I had taken pics at the time (because it's not quite as tidy now as two weeks ago - organized, but I have some fabric pulls set out). Anyway, here's my before - shelf overflowing, ironing board backed up to my sewing table being used as a workspace for fabric folding, clutter!
And below is the after - all my recent fabric purchases worked into my stash instead of in piles, ironing board off to the side so it stays useful and not heaped with odd things, cutting table turned and closer to my sewing table (two perks - now my rolling chair stays on the plastic mat between sewing machine and swiveling to use my laptop, also, I have declared the corner "Mom's personal space - no kids allowed!" and since it's more boxed in, they have a harder time getting past security than when the area was wide open ; ) Now I just need to hurry up and finish my Mini Quilt Color Study so I can have some inspiration up in the blank spaces. I have already finished my blue Arches quilt - I'll show that off this coming week.
And I upgraded my ironing board! (It's off to the right of my cutting table under the eave in the pic above.) Now I have a fancy rest thingy for my hot iron AND a place underneath to store my starch and extra vodka. But really it just being off on it's own is the best part - my husband is enjoying not having to unearth it every time he needs to iron a shirt : )

One last plug before I get to the really fun part of today's post... we're two weeks away from starting the 30/30 Sewing Challenge! I created the challenge to help make sewing a daily habit and to carve out time to sew just for me. If this sounds like a fun idea to you - or like a habit you want to start for you, too, then please join me for the month of March to have fun sewing just for you!  All the details are right here. Planning to participate? Grab the button and circle March 1st on your calendar!

Ok, so guess what today is? Yes, yes, it's Valentine's Day, but even better - it's my 2 year blogoversary and I'm giving away a $25 gift certificate to Westwood Acres Fabric to celebrate! They're one of my most favorite online shops, carrying many gorgeous precut modern fabric bundles, as well as patterns to use all that fabric goodness for.

To enter, leave me a comment below telling me what your plans are for this special holiday - what do you have planned for your Valentine? If you follow BBD on either Bloglovin' or Facebook, let me know in a separate comment for a second entry.
*The fine print: The drawing is closed!
I'll draw a winner at random, announce it here on my blog and notify the winner via email.
The giveaway is open to everyone, but if you're a no-reply/anonymous commenter,
be sure to include your email address in your comment so I can notify you!

My Valentine and I are going out to lunch today and then possibly going to the movies! It'll be hard to top last year because we got engaged. :)

I didn't have any grand plans but the hubby and I were planning on going out to eat sushi tonight. But now one of my little ones is sick so it looks like we'll be making a trip to the doctor and getting our food to go tonight. Hopefully you have a great day planned :)

Aww, hope your LO is feeling better! Fortunately ours were both on the backside of a cold, so we did a little road trip to see our extended family : )

I see Wee Wander! :O I love your organized studio! And you are so generous. Happy blogaversary! The husband and I didn't make plans for today because we were both supposed to work all day but most of my jobs got cancelled because of the snow! However, he surprised me on Tuesday with a beautiful candlelit lunch. It was wonderful. :)

Goodness, what bargains you got. We just went out for a quick drink and came home to a home cooked meal and early to bed as we had to work the next day. Still quite lovely.

Happy blogoversary! Love your studio makeover - especially the comment about keeping your extra vodka handy!

Himself and I kept it low key this year for Valentine's Day - a special meal cooked at home and lots of Olympic viewing.

Hahahaha that doesn't sound too good does it? But seriously when I started stocking starch, the DH was blowing through Mary's at record pace when ironing his clothes, so making homemade vodka starch has been a huge $$ saver! Hope you had a delightful low key evening : )

I love thrifty! We do a date breakfast once a month because it's cheap and the kids are both in preschool two mornings a week, so no sitter cost. The more you save on a date, the more money you have left for FABRIC!! : D

Wow, what a post! First... Happy Blogiversary!!! Second... that is quite a steal! I nabbed some fabric too, but ordered too late so I some of it sold out and I didn't find out what I actually got until it came in the mail. Third, LOVE the room... Your shelves are just full of fabric yumminess! It's beautiful eye-candy!! LOL

Yeah, one of the AMH's was gone by the time they filled my order, too, but I'm still delighted for the rest of it! And thank you!

Happy Blogoversary! Happy Valentine's day! Very cool and organized looking quilting room. It looks very roomy and sunny where you get to sew. :) Perfectly lovely for some wonderful quilts I have been seeing and perusing your blog. Loved the doll quilts! Those are some lucky dolls.

Thanks for the giveaway! We cleaned house on Valentine's Day and exchanged cards...so romantic. Lol We live in a small town and there is no where to eat for dinner other than burgers, but we went out for breakfast the following morning. :)

That does sound romantic ; ) The DH and I didn't really do anything to celebrate ourselves, but we attended a big family dinner and exchanged cards with all the grandparents and the kids' cousins, so that was fun. And breakfast dates are the best! Our wedding reception was a brunch - it's our favorite meal!
