Spent a wonderful afternoon at Quilt and Sew at Golden Threads taking the first half of a paper piecing class with Carol Thurston. I've never learned the technique before, so this was a good opportunity to pick up something new, and the teacher did a great job of explaining the process. It's quite outside my "instant gratification" mode of quilting projects, though, and definitely requires a level of time and focus that are hard to come by in my household. I have a feeling I won't be employing it on a regular basis anytime soon, but I'm sure once my kids leave for college and I have all the free time in the world, I'll be doing a lot more of it... so hurry up, 2027! In the meantime, looking forward to the second half of the class and having my new patriotic table runner all finished (I know, I know, if you know me, it's not my usual color palette, but I figured what with us being a military household, we could use a little red, white, and blue around here for a change ; ) I'll post a pic of what I have started soon - must camera shop first because after weeks of finicky behavior, mine finally died this morning as I was trying to capture an adorable little face smiling at me over the railing of her crib.
