Bright Baby Quilt
I want spring already! But as a tide-me-over until real flowers start blooming, I made this bright baby quilt last week for a friend's new little girl. After I had purchased the fabrics, she made a passing remark about not being fond of pink nursery decor... so I added just a bit more of the teal zigzag, and crossed my fingers that she wouldn't mind some pink, with a bunch of other colors, too!
I added a few applique flowers for a little focal point. And I've learned a valuable lesson for the future about using interfacing under light fabrics - I wish the yellow flower popped a bit more, but the teal ended up showing through a tad.
I backed and bound it in the grey floral hexie, and added a corner label. I really want to get little BBD tags made up to sew into the binding of my quilts, but I haven't decided if they should just be my logo or washing tips or what. If you have a small pre-printed/ woven brand label that you use, what info have you included on it? Name? Brand? Logo? Website? Washing instructions? I'd love any feedback you have to offer!
Wrapped up and ready to go! Happy to report that my friend did indeed love it, pink and all : )
See you Saturday for the 30/30 Sewing Challenge kick off!
I almost felt it was a tad too bright - or at least for me - but hopefully it'll be attention grabbing for the baby : ) Thanks for stopping by, Adrienne!
Who wouldn't love it?!!! It is sew sweet! Love the bright colours and those appliqued flowers! I need spring to hurry up and get here too! PS. I am really diggin' that backing fabric! Wow!
Thanks, Lorna! The backing and the numbers were my favorite prints in the bunch : )
So lovely and bright!
Thanks, Kathy! I will still do a larger label for quilts to have more info/for gifting, but I just want something little for quick projects and things I might make to sell. I've seen lots of sets on Etsy, but I can't decide - I feel like I better be sure before I order a hundred of something!
I love the colors in your quilt-a happy cheery quilt
Thanks, Kathy! So needed with all this cold and snow : )
I agree - it reads very rainbow to me : ) Thanks for stopping by, Rachel!
What an adorable baby quilt... such bright, fun colours!!! The appliqued flowers area a great addition.
Thanks, Pam - I thought it needed a little focal point, so on went the flowers : )
Thank you, Mandy! It was certainly cheery to make as a contrast to all the dull grey and snow outside : )
